Registration Process

Radio & TV stations (Electronic Media)
To install or operate a television station, radio station or any broadcasting apparatus, one must have a license issued by the Broadcasting Council.

A proprietor of a television station, radio station or broadcasting apparatus shall upon satisfying the requirements of broadcasting Council, register his/her station or apparatus with the Media Council.

The following particulars must be supplied to the Media Council;

• Name and Address of the person in charge of the station.
• Two Passport size photographs.
• Certified copies of the relevant testimonials as proof of his qualifications and experience.
• The name and address of the station or apparatus.
• A prescribed fee of U. Shs. 150,000/- paid annually at the Media Council Office- Kampala-Postel Building, Clement Hill Rd. 11th Floor Rm. 21.
• And other particulars as may be prescribed by Media Council.

Mass Media Organizations/Editor of a Newspaper

A proprietor of a mass media organizations shall on appointing an editor, register with the Media Council the following particulars in relation to the editor:

1. His or her name and address
2. Two passport size photographs
3. Certified copies of the relevant testimonials as proof of his or her qualifications and experience.
4. The name and address of the newspaper
5. Prescribed fee of Ug. Shs.50.000/- Payment is made at Media Council Office-Postel Building, Clement Hill Rd. 11th Floor-Rm.21
   
   If the proprietor changes the Editor, Fresh particulars and payments will have to be made at the Media Council.
   
   
6. Other particulars as may be prescribed by the Council.
